Andreas Geier, General Manager, SENNEBOGEN Middle East, recently participated in an interview with the INTERMAT Middle East team to discuss the future of the construction and infrastructure industry in the GCC and the Middle East region.

The Middle East region is currently poised for growth in the construction and infrastructure sectors. Many senior managers and industry influencers all predict that these sectors will experience profitable development both in the short term and long term.

Mr. Geier, said, “For sure there will be some boom markets, like Qatar (2013 onwards, due to the World Cup 2022), Iraq and Egypt (after the political situation stablises), but even in other markets like Oman, UAE, Kuwait and KSA, we see good possibilities for the next years”

A recent study by MEED Projects, has reported that several construction and infrastructure projects have been awarded to six of the GCC countries which include: USD 119 billion to Saudi Arabia; USD 75 billion to UAE; USD 26 billion to Qatar; USD 30 billion to Oman, USD 25 billion to Kuwait; and USD 10 billion to Bahrain.

Companies and stakeholders in the construction and infrastructure sectors are looking to build lucrative relationships and form strategic alliances with each other to strengthen not just their projects, but also their presence in the region.

According to Mr. Geier, SENNEBOGEN is looking forward to establishing excellent relationships with Union Pipes International and Zublin International, two well-respected organisations in the UAE for their current and future projects in Abu Dhabi. On being asked about SENNEBOGEN’s overall opinion of INTERMAT Middle East 2011, Mr. Geier replied, “The support and communication from the fair organization was excellent. The combination with the World Ports Summit has given a positive touch, because of combined customers who could visit both events.”

Mr. Geier further continue, “Abu Dhabi is the right location for such an exhibition and we hope that it will be an event, which will be fully accepted by the customers from the Middle East, because there is no high class construction equipment exhibition like this in this area.”

NTERMAT Middle East 2012 is organised by Comexposium and its partner Clarion Events Middle East and will take place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from 8 – 10 October 2012.
